Our history

The presence of Millennium bcp in the Far East went back to 1993, although it was only in 2010 that the Macau Branch saw the expansion of activities, through the attribution of an onshore full banking licence, aimed at establishing an international platform for business development in the strategic lozenge of Portuguese-speaking countries – Europe, Brazil, China and Africa.

Millennium bcp inaugurated in 2013 a new branch in Macau, strengthening the relations with Portuguese-speaking countries – China, Africa and Brazil - in the increase of presence in the local economy, aimed at boosting the balance sheet with origin exclusively local and expanding the offer of services to various networks of the Bank, through the Macau platform.

Chronology of events

1993: The government of Macau authorized Banco Comercial Português, S.A. to carry out banking activity in Macau through a branch with an offshore banking licence.

1995: Following the purchase of Banco Português do Atlântico, Banco Comercial Português took up Banco Comercial de Macau and Companhia de Seguros de Macau.

1998: The People’s Republic of China authorized Banco Comercial Português (BCP) to open a Representative Office in Guangzhou.

2005: Banco Comercial Português (BCP) sold Banco Comercial de Macau (BCM) and Companhia de Seguros de Macau to Dah Sing Bank, a subsidiary of a financial group in Hong Kong – Dah Sing Banking Group.

2006: Development of the onshore Branch of Macau.

2010: The government of the Macau Special Administrative Region authorized Millennium bcp to carry out banking activity in Macau through a branch with full banking licence.

2012: Expansion of the activity of the Macau Branch.
